I didn't even know I didn't value myself when I started reading, "Money, A love story," by Kate Northrup. I knew I needed to learn more about money, but self value?! Really. I started doing this exercise in February 2016 and it changed my life.
Many areas of my life. Romantic, personal, financial, and spiritual.
Truthfully I had never thought about value.
Noun.
1. the regard that something is held to deserve; the importance, worth, or usefulness of something
2. a person's principles or standards of behaviour; one's judgement of what is important in life
Verb
1. estimate the monetary worth of (something)
2. consider (someone or something) to be important or beneficial; have a high opinion of
The exercise was simple:
Write down 3 things you value about yourself each day.
Value about myself?!>!*(#$(*@^(*
Seriously.
This took a lot of thought and mindset shift.
I was definitely aware of what I valued in other people, in professionals I worked with, in family and friends, but I had never turned the spot light on me.
I didn't know my value. I am embarrassed to say that it even occurred to me that I didn't appreciate what I was offering my clients and the person I was dating. Two big areas and I had no clue.
